04 · Safety & waiver

Before you use the tools.

Techne Makers runs a 130W CO2 laser cutter. Read this in full. You'll be briefed again in person before your first cut, and this stands as your signed acknowledgement until then.

Risks & rules you're accepting

01The studio operates a sealed 130W CO2 laser cutter presenting hazards including fire, toxic fume inhalation and eye injury from reflected beams.

02CO2-rated laser safety glasses must be worn at all times while the laser machine is powered on.

03You may not operate the laser machine unless formally trained and signed off by a director. Supervised use only until sign-off.

04A 1 metre exclusion zone applies around all sides of the machine while it is running.

05Smoking is prohibited inside the workshop at all times under Irish law.

06Food and drink are permitted only in the designated area, separate from the laser cutting workspace.

07No persons under 18 are permitted in the workshop at any time.

08Maximum occupancy is 6 persons in the workshop at any time.

09Any accident, near miss or hazard must be reported to a supervisor immediately.

Declaration

I have read this waiver in full and understand its contents. I confirm I am 18 years of age or older. No one under 18 is permitted in the workshop at any time. I am in good physical health and will inform Techne Makers of any relevant medical condition before taking part. I agree to comply with all safety rules: PPE, the 1m laser exclusion zone, no unsupervised laser use until signed off, max. 6 people in the workshop. I accept the terms of this waiver freely and without duress, and understand the studio's limitation of liability.

Photography

I consent to my finished work being photographed for the studio's website and social media. Optional; you can withdraw this in writing any time.
